About the team
This site was created by public service employees to provide updates on the B.C. government’s ongoing work to address systemic racism and advance racial equity.

The people working on this website have varying backgrounds, levels of education and experiences with racism and other forms of discrimination. This includes Indigenous, racialized and white team members, parents to racialized children, immigrants or children to racialized immigrants and others who have lived in culturally diverse places in Canada and around the world.
Many team members are researchers or analysts and have worked on data and social research projects in community. Others have experiences in building relationships with Indigenous people, communications, web design and other initiatives that aim to address systemic racism. Team members have also completed training to further their understanding of anti-racism principles, Indigenous perspectives and how to conduct racial equity research in a safe way.
All of these experiences inform how we approach the creation of content on this site and the work on the Anti-Racism Data Act more broadly.
We recognize that our lived experiences may impact the way we have written, created visualizations for and reviewed this content. We acknowledge that this work is a continuous learning process. We’re committed to ongoing learning and aim to approach our work with openness and humility as we seek to honour and reflect on the perspectives of the diverse communities in B.C.

Territorial acknowledgment
As a team working across British Columbia, we acknowledge that our work takes place on the lands of many First Nations. We recognize the responsibilities that come with working on these lands and commit to ongoing learning, listening and relationship-building with Indigenous Peoples. We honour the past, present and future of Indigenous communities and the resilience of their cultures, languages and governance systems.
